The COVID-19 pandemic claims another festival, with organisers stating: “it has become clear that it’s just not possible for this years festival to go ahead.”
Festival goers have received the news many would have predicted – that there will be no festivals in Reading or Leeds this August.
With the world gripped by the pandemic at the start of March, festival organisers were optimistic that the situation would improve by August – but as the outbreak continues, they have sensibly called time on this year’s edition.
It will be the first year since 1985 that it will not go ahead, but it is expected to return by 2021.
It remains unclear if headliners Stormzy, Liam Gallagher and Rage Against the Machine will be booked again for next year.
